President, Principal Engineer, Ph.D., P.E.
 
KIMBERLIE STAHELI
 
Kim specializes in trenchless engineering with expertise in geotechnical evaluations, feasibility studies, trenchless designs, constructability reviews, development of plans and specifications, pre-qualification packages, and expert witness work. She also specializes in a wide range of trenchless technologies including microtunneling, horizontal directional drilling, pipe ramming, pipe jacking, pipe bursting, auger boring, open-shield pipe jacking, EPB tunneling, slip-lining, and UV Cure CIPP lining. Kim served on the Board of Directors of the North American Society of Trenchless Technology (NASTT) for 7 years, including Chair of the Board for 2 years. Kim is a member of the Executive Sub-Committee (ESC) of the International Society of Trenchless Technology (ISTT). Kim’s favorite thing in life is being a mom to her two lovely daughters. She especially loves to laugh and sing with her girls. She also enjoys traveling and exploring different parts of the world and experiencing new cultures.
 
 
 
Vice President, Principal Engineer, P.E.
 
BRAD MOORE
 
Brad is a Principal Engineer with extensive experience as a civil/water resources engineer with project management experience on numerous, multi-disciplined teams for municipal infrastructure projects including planning, design and construction of waterlines, storm and sanitary and CSO conveyance systems.
He has experience in managing multi-disciplined pipeline design teams including conventional open excavation and trenchless construction methods. Brad has 30+ years of experience with over 25 of those years working on numerous public infrastructure projects including over 15 major pipeline projects in Oregon and Washington. Brad is a trusted leader in trenchless technology design and is well-respected by Owners in the Pacific Northwest. His breadth of experience on pipeline projects with trenchless elements make him an asset to any pipeline design team.
 
Brad loves college hoops and you can always count on a lively conversation about the Sweet 16 with him. He enjoys attending live sporting and music events. Brad also loves spending time with his beautiful family, including two darling grand-sons who always make him smile.
 
 
 
Construction Manager
 
JOEL STAHELI
 
As head of STC Construction Services Joel manages specialty construction inspection on trenchless projects.  He has vast experience with a number of trenchless construction methods and is able to identify and prioritize risk and develop construction inspection strategies that ensure the Owner has the right information from which to evaluate potential change orders. Joel embraces a proactive approach to construction inspection services and performs time-in-motion studies during construction to evaluate performance on a real-time basis, allowing identification of potential problems. He has excellent communication skills that allow him to interact with the contractor in a productive manner while representing the Owner in a manner that is consistent with a well-planned risk management strategy.  Joel is a firm believer in identifying and tracking trenchless risks throughout construction to ensure that the factors that contribute to successful completion of a trenchless project are not overlooked.  Joel is straight forward and genuine. Senior Technical Advisor
 
MARK HUTCHINSON
 
Mark is a Senior Technical Advisor with over 38 years of experience in design and construction of municipal storm water, waste water, and CSO projects. Mark has developed, lead or facilitated teams of engineers, technicians, and inspectors to safely deliver high quality, functional projects under budget and on time. Mark uses his experience to mentor and problem solve - drawing on a variety of trenchless projects he has worked on including microtunneling, pipe bursting, CIPP, large diameter tunneling, hand tunnels, jack & bore, pilot bore, and HDD projects. He is also well versed in shafts, shoring & ground improvement design & construction utilizing slurry wall, secant piles, jet grout, caissons, H-pile, sheet pile, stone columns, compaction, and permeation grouting.
As Construction Division Manager for the City of Portland for over 13 years and project manager for another 20 years he oversaw completion of their CSO program and the transition to 20 plus miles a year of pipe rehabilitation utilizing CIPP, pipe-bursting, slip lining, open cut and spot repair from 6-inch to 120-inch diameter on a variety of pipe materials from brick pipe to cast iron. He has also used a variety contracting methodologies to achieve project goals, as well as dispute resolution methodologies to reduce construction claims and litigation costs. He is well known by most construction contractors in the Northwest and respected in all manners of construction management and inspection.
 
Mark is a big family man with three children, and six grandchildren. He is active in his church and an avid fisherman and gardener. If you were to ask him where the fish are biting he could easily tell you where and when he plans to go fishing next in one of his boats.
 
 
 
Project Engineer
 
JAKE ANDRESEN
 
Jake is a geotechnical engineer who serves as a Project Engineer at Staheli Trenchless and is involved with feasibility analysis, design calculations, geotechnical analysis, cost estimating, and assisting on project designs for a variety of trenchless methods that include microtunneling, horizontal directional drilling, pipe ramming pipe bursting, auger boring, and UV Cure CIPP. Mr. Andresen holds an M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering and a B.S.E in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University. Jake is involved in a wide variety of projects at Staheli Trenchless and works hard to maintain positive client relationships. Jake enjoys running trails in the Cascade and Olympic Mountains in the summer and downhill skiing in the winter.
 
 
 
Construction Inspector
 
RICK HYATT
 
Rick has over 20 years of experience in civil construction with over 10 years as a pipeline construction inspector on both traditional open cut methods and trenchless installations. Rick has extensive experience in document control, plan and specification review, submittal review and response, project safety oversight and record keeping, as well as troubleshooting and QA/QC on horizontal directional drilling, microtunneling, open shield pipe jacking, auger boring and conventional tunneling projects. Rick’s extensive field experience is of great value as a construction inspector as he recognizes challenges early and is able to develop practical solutions with the Owner and Contractor to avoid conflict. Rick has a contagious smile and is very well liked by both Owners and Contractors. He develops good relationships with contractors while maintaining the structure necessary to enforce the construction contract and represent the Owner. Rick is a great co-worker as his attitude is always positive.
 
Rick enjoys sports, salmon fishing, playing pool, golfing, scuba diving and traveling with his beautiful wife.
 
 
 
Construction Inspector
 
TIM BARKER
 
Tim has over 15 years of experience in all aspects of large heavy civil projects including 10 years of experience in tunneling and trenchless projects. Mr. Barker has been involved in all phases of tunneling projects, from working as a miner in the pit to serving as Safety Officer for the Contractor and providing Inspection Services for the Construction Management Team. As part of the CM Team, Tim has been involved in constructability reviews at various stages of design, project set-up for construction, document control, project safety oversight and record keeping on EPB, microtunneling, open shield pipe jacking and conventional tunneling projects. Tim’s practical attitude and personable approach allow him to effectively communicate with all partners on a project to develop strong relationships between the Owner and the Contractor. He has a contagious smile and is well respected on a job site.
 
Tim is an avid race fan and enjoys watching XXX races. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking and spending as much time outside as possible.
 
 
 
Operations Manager
 
HEIDI HOWARD
 
Heidi is the Operations Manager at Staheli Trenchless and the glue that keeps the company together and running smoothly. She performs a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, managing STC’s accounting and bookkeeping functions, human resources needs, marketing materials and proposals, and jumping in as support staff on project work when needed. Heidi is quick and efficient and will gladly get you the information you need.
 
In her spare time, Heidi can usually be found at the barn with her beloved horse, Junior, exploring the backroads in her Jeep, or strapping on skis and foolishly following her husband down a mountain.
 
 
 
Executive Assistant
 
MELISSA STAHELI
 
Melissa is a vital part of the executive team as she performs administrative duties critical to the success of STC. She manages calendars, travel itineraries, meeting coordination and event arrangements. She also assists with marketing media, preparing reports, gathering data, and managing client relations. Melissa serves as the Staheli Trenchless coordinator for all NASTT and ISTT business. Melissa has a great attitude and is always willing to help. Melissa doubles as a ballet instructor and choreographer. Her biggest joy in life is being a mother. Melissa and her husband love exploring the Pacific Northwest with their 4 beautiful children.
